- Get at least 3 samples of the products you are considering purchasing. You will notice that samples vary. This variation may include slight fading between new and older products which were manufactured in batches.
NOTE: Products tend to vary from different batches depending on how these products are produced. SmartStone, for instance, manufactures all products by hand. This process enables the colour variation to merge well and results your area blending naturally with its surrounds and adds to concrete’s natural beauty. BUT, if your contractor is not educated in this regard, it could result in areas looking “patchy”. To avoid this, your contractor MUST draw products from different pallets during the installation process. Key aspects to consider when purchasing concrete products:

- Do some research on your product choice. Consider the Brand and Strength class of the products. Choose a reputable manufacturer with the SANS mark of approval. You need to make informed decisions based on applied knowledge. Read our blog on "Do's and Don'ts of paving" for more information on this topic.
- Design, Plan, Implement. Any new living space should kick off with a good design. Your design will determine any changes that you will need to make, depending on space availability and the overall design direction. A good idea is not always a good idea on paper and it's not necessarily practical. Balance is important. Use lines, colours and textures from your home or closest living space and implement those back into your new living space to ensure a well-balanced area. Read our blog " How to Design, Plan and Implement my ideas for my living space" for more information on the topic.
- Be sure to create a practical, functional and aesthetical living space. Visit our informative website for some unique design ideas: www.mobicast.co.za / www.smartstone.co.za
- Measure up! Add 6% to your total SQM for cutting, breakages and unforeseen add-ons. Your quotation will only be as accurate as your measurements.
- Order your paving in advance. This helps avoid long waiting periods for your order delivery. The sooner your order is placed, the sooner it gets in line for production.
- Choose the RIGHT contractor. Your contractor of choice should be reputable with good experience. The installation of your products will determine the lifespan of your living space to a great extent. The chances of your living space being disrupted over time is great if your product is installed poorly. Refer to our blog on "How to choose the right contractor for the job" for more information on the topic.
- DON'T seal a wet or newly installed product. Your area needs to dry sufficiently before sealing to avoid efflorescence from creeping up and being trapped under a layer of sealant. NOTE: Sealants differ. ALWAYS first speak to a sealant specialist and inform them that your choice of product is a concrete product. We advise a water-base sealant.
